VIP Authors Celebrate Independents Day All Month Long

Thursday, July 1st, 2010

No, that’s not a misspelling. (Come on, I’ve been an editor for over 30 years.)nybldgtop_flag

On July 4, America celebrates Independence Day. This year, VIP Authors can continue partying for the entire month when they take advantage of the new VIP Author Inner Circle 6-month membership program (July through December 2010).

The 2010 yearly membership is now closed, but savvy VIPs can hop on board the Inner Circle for only $75 for the rest of the year! (If you can’t wait to take advantage of this opportunity, join now and come back to read the rest of the post later.)

So why are we calling it Independents Day Month? Maybe you say you’re not an independent author—your book is already published by Simon & Schuster, or maybe you’re aspiring to get an agent and traditional publisher. Well, I say it doesn’t matter who your publisher is (you or HarperCollins). ALL authors are independent authors, because ultimately all authors are responsible for their own success.

You may have noticed that even the Big Publishers expect their authors to come ready with a platform, community of readers, blog and/or website, and marketing plan. So, indie authors and traditionally published authors have to do the same work…we’re all one.

In the spirit of the colonists overthrowing their tyrannical oppressors, break free of the stifling old attitudes and join forces with like-minded writers who are ready to take control of their  publishing success. The VIP Authors Inner Circle program provides education and support for all authors. See all membership benefits here>>

VIP Authors embrace independence! We rise to the challenge, eager to adapt the new technology and resources to our own advantage. VIP Authors don’t wait for permission, we’re too busy following our dreams IRL (in real life).

All we ask is your commitment–not for a year, but only 6 months! (And, at an insanely low price.) That’s why this offer is available during July only. Register this month, or be closed out for the rest of the year!

It’s not too late to turn those almost-forgotten 2010 New Year’s resolutions to get published this year into reality. Come January 2011, will you be where you are now…or will you be clinking your glass to celebrate your continued success in the new year?

VIP Authors choose NOW. What do you choose?

Good. Register here and start celebrating your independence in the VIP Authors Inner Circle program today.

BONUS OFFER: Register by July 10 and download all the VIP Author Talks and Open Coaching audio recordings from January through June 2010–an additional 6 months of value!! But act now, because on July 11, the material is being archived and will no longer be available!

Quick! Register now and start downloading! Remember, you must sign up by July 10 to get the extra goodies.

P.S. The new 6-month program is an opportunity for new members to join. If you are an Inner Circle member already, just pat yourself on the back and get ready to welcome new friends. If it’s time for you to renew, don’t worry…you’ll get a reminder email and you can get the special price, too.

Welcome to 2009, The Year of the Author

Friday, January 2nd, 2009

I have declared 2009 “The Year of The Author.” The current trends in the publishing industry are signs that more change will take place in the next year(s) than have occurred in the past 50 years, and it’s all good for authors.

For example, we may never again have to hear an agent or editor say how only one (1) percent of what comes across his or her desk gets accepted. Guess what? Those editors and agents are now out trolling the Internet, looking for authors who have made a success of their work on their own because while the “professionals” were arrogantly dismissing the unknowns, the “accepted” authors turned out to be frauds (memoir liars), bad bets (celebrity stories that didn’t sell) or such big draws via huge advances that sales couldn’t catch up and turn a profit. A recent story in Publisher’s Weekly describes how some self-published authors have attracted some very hefty advances for their books because they have proven results.

Yes! Now is the best time in the history of publishing to be an author if you are willing to step up to the challenge of being a bit of a pioneer. I have my wagon packed and I’m ready for the new frontier. You are invited to come with me if you want to mine the gold, too.

Many of you already have joined the movement by enrolling in VIP Authors Inner Circle. If you have, your welcome package is on the way with your copy of 4Ps to Publishing Success. And by now, you’ve received an email with a link to the free reports and bonus audio recordings.

If you are not a VIP Inner Circle member yet, find out about the benefits and how you can join here>>>

If you still have questions, listen in on my free teleclass, “How to Make 2009 The Year of The Author,” on January 7, 2008 at 2pm ET. I’ll answer questions at the end. Here’s the dial-in information:

How to Make 2009 The Year of The Author

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

Did you add “publish my book” to yet another New Year’s Resolutions list?  Would you be closer to your goal if you knew how to:

  • Decide if you should traditional publish or self-publish
  • Find legitimate agents and publishers and avoid scams
  • Choose the right POD publisher
  • Find markets for your work
  • Build a waiting audience before your book comes out
  • Use the Internet to market and sell your work
  • Use social networking sites effectively (and not waste your time)
  • Get free publicity

Now is the best time in the history of publishing to be an author because everything is changing. “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.” Get it? There are more opportunities to get published than ever before—if you know what you’re doing. And with all the changes, it’s harder than ever to know what to do. But what if you had a mentor to guide you? Want to know how to fi-i-i-i-nally get that book published?

Who will survive the 2009 publishing climate?

Wednesday, November 26th, 2008

If you thought getting published was a tough road before, strap yourself in tightly, because 2009 promises to present authors and publishers with some all-time tough challenges, some that have never been faced before. On Monday, November 24, 2008 Publisher’s Weekly reported in a Special Alert that Houghton Mifflin Harcourt had asked its editors to stop buying books. No new acquisitions! The startling announcement comes on the heels of reports from publishers and booksellers in past weeks of gloomy forecasts for a less-than-merry holiday season based on poor third quarter results and a weak economy. In the same article, literary agents echo the  indications of a sluggish market.

So, should you give up on your dream and wait for better times? Hell, no!  History has shown that there’s a silver lining to be found inside every dark cloud. Books in Print publisher Bowker reported that over 400,000 new titles were published in 2007, up from 300,000 in 2006, so clearly every author and publisher faces the challenge of competing for readers.

Who will survive and even flourish in this market? VIP Authors. Authors who learn the ins and outs of the industry, become familiar with the publishing process and learn the latest marketing strategies as well as the tried-and-true methods.

Are you a VIP Author who is determined to make, no matter what it takes? Are you willing to invest your time and money to ensure your publishing success? Yes? Then welcome to place where publishing dreams come true through a program of on-going education and mentoring to keep you motivated and focused on your goal. Learn more here>>>
